After a 5-1 start, the Pitt women’s basketball team dropped three straight games and was on a bit of a slide. They broke that losing streak on Saturday with an easy 74-55 win over UNC-Wilmington.
The Panthers (6-4) were led again by Yacine Diop, who had 22 points, ten rebounds, and six blocks. It’s safe to say that she is easily the team’s best player. Diop leads the team in scoring (16.8 ppg) and is second in rebounding, bringing in seven boards per game. Pitt also got strong contributions from forward Danielle Garven (14 points), center Kalista Walters (12 points and 11 rebounds), freshman guard Pika Rodriguez (12 points), and sophomore guard Jasmine Whitney, who had seven points, eight assists, and only one turnover.
