Shamiel Stevenson was a small bright spot on last year’s team, and was expected to be a contributor coming into this season under Jeff Capel in his first season as he was the 2nd leading-returing scorer. After a season where he averaged almost 24 minutes a game scoring 8.5 points per game and rebounding 4.4 times per game, he played a total of 32 minutes the entire 2018-2019 season scoring 16 total points and 7 rebounds.
Stevenson’s lack of play was noticed almost immediately by the media, and when questioned about it, Jeff Capel commented that he needs player to play with energy every day.
