Pitt Men’s Soccer upset #7 Virginia, win first ever ACC Tournament game

After notching only two wins in conference play and having never beaten the Cavaliers since joining the ACC, the Panthers upset #7 Virginia in the first round of the ACC tournament.

After a scoreless half, it wasn’t until 62’ that sophomore Edward Kizza notched his 14th goal of the season to take the lead. Pitt held on till Kizza notched his 15th at 79’ to help put the nail in the coffin for Virginia. Coming into the game, Kizza was 5th in the country in goals scored, and 1st in the ACC.

Pitt’s had stiff competition through out the season, as this will have been the 9th team Pitt has faced that was ranked at the time of the meeting.
