Pitt’s lone non-conference game was canceled on Saturday as the MAC canceled their football season this fall due to the COVID-19 virus. That would eliminate MAC opponent, Miami (OH), from the Panthers’ schedule, again leaving them without a non-conference opponent season.
The game was originally set to be Pitt’s opener on September 12. Without another team taking that slot, the Panthers would face Syracuse on September 19 in their opener. There’s talk of the MAC possibly eyeing the spring for their football season but that doesn’t help Pitt.
The loss of the game is a disappointing one, obviously.
