Pitt safety Jordan Whitehead has been stealing the attention when it comes to preseason watch lists lately as the sophomore is up for three major awards already. But linebacker Mike Caprara picked up some recognition as well, being named as a candidate for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
The team is named later in the year and honors players for off-field work. The redshirt senior played in 13 games last year, starting eight of them.
If the award sounds familiar, it should. Pitt running back James Conner was not only a candidate, but was named to the team last season for his work with numerous groups, including the National Kidney Foundation, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and the Mel Blount Youth Home.
