Pitt fullback George Aston didn’t hear his name called in this weekend’s NFL Draft but he quickly drew interest and signed with the Denver Broncos shortly afterward.
Aston was a cult hero of sorts at Pitt and known for his bruising style of play. He gained some national notice in 2016 as part of the team’s high-powered offense, scoring ten touchdowns as he was used heavily in Pitt’s goal line offense.
His production was slowed after that. He missed most of 2017 due to an injury and last year with Pitt’s running backs Qadree Ollison and Darrin Hall rushing for more than 2,300 yards, didn’t see the ball all that much.
