College football training camps always bring about position changes and while the Panthers have made several already since the end of last season, another was announced earlier this week. Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi announced that offensive lineman Mike Herndon would be switched to the defensive line.
Obviously, Pitt seems to have a bit more quality depth on the offensive side so that no doubt played into the decision a bit. Previously, Herndon was slated to be a backup at guard. He now moves to the interior defensive line as a tackle.
Part of Pitt's need on defense stemmed from the loss of two linemen to health issues in Justin Moody and Zack Gilbert as announced at the start of camp.
