Pitt’s rough baseball season continued over the weekend with a disappointing sweep to Duke. The three losses drop Pitt to 8-22 overall.
For the Panthers, Duke (17-15) probably represented the team’s best chance to win an ACC series this year. That could still happen, of course, but at 3-9 in conference, the Blue Devils were near the bottom of the conference coming into the series.
If you’re looking for a silver lining here, it’s that the games were close. Pitt dropped the opener, 2-0, and then lost Game 2, 6-5. Sunday’s Game 3 went to extra innings but the Panthers lost that one in ten, 10-9.
