2016 marks the 40th anniversary for Pitt's 1976 championship football team and the Panthers plan to kick things off by honoring two key players from that squad.
Serving as honorary captains for the Pitt Blue-Gold spring game will be Heisman Trophy winner Tony Dorsett and quarterback Matt Cavanaugh as announced by the school. You might remember that Pitt had a couple of former stars serve as last years captains in NFL players Larry Fitzgerald and Aaron Donald.
"I always love coming back home to Pitt and being around the current players," Dorsett said.
