Former Pitt guard Gilbert Brown retired from professional basketball last year and entered the coaching profession, joining the South Kent School in Connecticut as an assistant coach. On Monday, that career move led him back to his alma mater, as Pitt head coach Jeff Capel hired Brown to fill a position on his staff that was vacated by Pitt alum Ronald Ramon.
Brown, who attended Pitt from 2006 to 2011, will join the Pitt staff as the director of player and alumni development. The position was held by Ramon from 2019 until last month, when he accepted an assistant coach position on Kyle Neptune's staff at Fordham.
