Pitt safety Paris Ford has opted out of the remainder of the 2020 season, according to Alan Saunders of Pittsburgh Sports Now. The redshirt junior safety is the second defensive standout at Pitt to opt out, as Pitt defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman did so in August, and he is the first to do so midseason.
Ford's contributions to the Panthers defense have been vital, as he led Pitt in interceptions this season, with three in seven games. He also came up with one pass breakup and ranked second on the team in total tackles, with 41, three of which were for losses.
