Point guard Marcus Carr announced his intent to leave Pitt on April 20 after previously requesting his release from the program in March, and on Monday night, he revealed he will be transferring to Minnesota to continue his college career. Carr will sit out the 2018-19 season at Minnesota due to transfer rules but will then have three years of eligibility remaining.
“I’m committing to the University of Minnesota,” Carr told Evan Daniels of 247Sports. “I went out for a visit there this past weekend and really fell in love with the place. I got a chance to meet coach [Richard] Pitino and tour the school, and after leaving there and talking to my family, I just felt that was the place for me to be.
