Pitt came up with one of the unlikeliest of wins on Wednesday night, as the team defeated Northwestern 71-70 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge after trailing for 39 minutes and 54 seconds of the 40-minute game. That was the longest Pitt had ever trailed a team before pulling out a victory in program history, and the win came thanks in large part to sophomore star Justin Champagnie, who posted an impressive 20-point, 20-rebound double-double, which he capped off with a go-ahead dunk with 5.6 seconds left in regulation.
Champagnie’s late dunk provided the Panthers with their first lead of the game, as the team struggled offensively early on and then found its form in the second half only to see Northwestern step up its play.
