Pitt center Jimmy Morrissey went down with an injury in his team’s 34-13 win over Wake Forest on Saturday, as he had his right leg rolled up during the Panthers’ final touchdown of the day. He was helped off the field and did not return. On Tuesday, Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi confirmed Morrissey underwent surgery on his ankle and will miss the remainder of the season.
Morrissey served as Pitt’s starting center in 23 consecutive games and was instrumental in paving the way for running backs Qadree Ollison and Darrin Hall, who have combined for 1,994 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns this season.
