The Pitt football season gets underway this week with a game against Virginia. But oddsmakers have the Panthers as slight underdogs against the Cavaliers, despite the game being played in Pittsburgh.
Pitt actually opened as a one-point favorite but now finds itself as a 2 1/2-point underdog according to many lines.
While I think the Panthers have a decent shot at winning, seeing Virginia favored isn’t a big surprise. They received a good number of votes in the preseason polls and are being picked by some to have a breakout year. Whether or not that actually happens is up in the air.
