The Player of the Year Awards usually require two big things: 1. A standout performance in at least one counting stat (interceptions or tackles, most likely) and 2. Some preseason hype. Jordan Whitehead is certainly a candidate for some big numbers, with a 100-plus tackle season looking like a reasonable benchmark. If he really does get playing time on both sides of the ball, too, his profile could skyrocket nationally.
