As Chas mentioned earlierd, the offense was entirely too conservative in the second half of the UVA game. This allowed the Cavaliers to make it a one score game late and add a little drama to Homecoming. Fortunately the defense came through eventually and it was all for naught. Play-calling remains an issue, but self-inflicted wounds were the bigger issue for the offense on Saturday.
Here’s a short list of what I can recall and I may be missing something.
- Two botched snaps by Rowell that killed offensive drives
- Peterman’s weird sack/fumble that gave UVA 7 points
- An Adam Bisnowaty hold that cancelled a long Peterman run
- A Qadree Ollison fumble on the goal line
- Jester Weah’s drop
Those five mistakes cost Pitt at least 20 points between missed offensive opportunities and points given to UVA.
