Ty Jerome had a game plan going into last week's NBA draft.
"I told my agent not to call me because I didn’t want everybody in the room to know,” he said. "I just asked him to text me."
Surrounded by 25 or so family members and his girlfriend at his aunt’s house in New Rochelle, N.Y., Jerome kept checking his phone.
Then came the text that stirred up mixed emotions of relief and excitement in the usually calm and low-key Jerome and cheers all around from his loved ones.
“I don’t let people know how I’m feeling, but during that moment, that was a special moment,” he said.
