MEMPHIS – Phoenix got rookie 7-footer Deandre Ayton involved with its leading scorer, Devin Booker, sidelined with the strained left hamstring, but it didn’t matter.
The Suns couldn’t stop the league’s worst scoring team in losing their fourth straight game, 117-96, to the Memphis Grizzlies at FedExForum.
“We just can’t layover and lose like this,” Ayton said. “We have to at least play. At least say, ‘We lost, but we still played.’ We’ve just got to have that mentality at all times.”
Ayton scored a career-high 24 points, missing only one shot from the field on 13 attempts as Phoenix ran its offense through him with Booker out, but found him frustrated with another defeat.
