Thunder coach Billy Donovan wants high school players to be able to jump to NBA

Oklahoma City coach Billy Donovan was asked about the state of college basketball before Friday’s game between the Suns and Thunder.

“I don’t think we have enough time,” Donovan said with a smile.

Then Donovan, who won two national championships at Florida and was a college head coach for 21 years, made time, giving an expansive, 536-word answer as to what he thinks needs to be done to clean up the college game.

“The first thing is for me, and I’ve said this all along … things were a lot better in the game, things weren’t perfect, but things were a lot better when they let these guys go (to the NBA) out of high school,” Donovan said.
