As of the morning of December 29, 2018, the Phoenix Suns are 9-27, tied with the New York Knicks for the second worst record in the league, giving them equal odds at the number one overall pick in the draft, and the right to draft power forward extraordinaire, Zion Williamson out of Duke.
Or, if you’re an R.J. Barrett or Cam Reddish fan, at least the right to select them number one overall.
The best way of achieving these odds is to lose as many games as possible, sit out your best talent as often as possible (generally with phantom injuries), start your youngest, most inexperienced, and least talented players, all in a guise of giving providing well-needed experience (which worked out great for Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss), and outright tank for the worst record in the league.
