Talking Stick Resort Arena is empty right now, but that is by design. Phoenix's downtown arena, home to the Suns, Mercury and Rattlers and host to major concerts and events, was scheduled to undergo major renovations this summer long before the coronavirus pandemic.
PROJECT 201, the $230 million transformation of the arena, is well underway. During a media tour Tuesday, Suns President and CEO Jason Rowley said the renovations are all on time, with visible progress evident on the plaza and pavilion, the two areas open to reporters.
On Tuesday, the arena was without seats or a court, but the combination of open space throughout the concourse and detailed rendering of the plans helped give an idea of the environment to come.
