That was an incredible few hours as a member of the Phoenix Suns, eh?
Not long after signing 20-year old Tidjan Keida to his first ever NBA contract, the Suns went ahead and waived him. He never suited up. Never made the active roster.
Why bother?
Because it’s one of the nine ways to get a player on your affiliated G-League team, and one of the quickest for a new prospect joining the league.
NBA teams can designate up to four players that they cut during training camp as “affiliate players,” meaning those players will join that team’s NBA G League affiliate (should the players choose to sign into the NBA G League).
