Sonny Weems did not fit with the Suns as expected, but Chase Budinger might do so.
The Suns waived Weems, a lightly utilized guard, on Saturday in a move that sets up the Suns to sign Arizona product Chase Budinger once he clears waivers. The Indianapolis Star initially reported that the Suns were the leading contender to sign Budinger and other sources confirmed it will happen once he clears waivers Monday. Another team is unlikely to claim Budinger because it would have to pick up the remainder of his season's $5 million salary and he would not be eligible for a playoff roster.
