Cancer sucks.
That’s an obvious, blunt statement, but it’s absolutely true.
For 11-year old Naomi Oakes, though, she was determined to never let it take her insatiable thirst for life. In fact, after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML – a cancer of the blood and bone marrow) in June, her dad lovingly told her that she was going to be alright.
“I know,” she replied. “I’m worried about mom.”
That’s Naomi, though – strong, selfless, and full of life. Several months of chemotherapy and lengthy hospital stays later, she’s back home.
Most importantly, she’s cancer-free.
