The Suns never had an easy sell on their hands from the time Markieff Morris asked for a trade and publicly said he did not have a future in Phoenix.
In the end, the Suns traded Morris for their future. They dealt Morris on Thursday to Washington for a first-round pick that likely will be usable this year and power forwards Kris Humphries and DeJuan Blair, whose contracts set up the Suns to add $7.4 million of salary-cap space this summer.
Over the past 13 months, Morris refused comment after a career-best game, called out home fans after a franchise scoring low for a half, was fined by the league for publicly criticizing the Suns, was charged with two felony assault counts, experienced his career’s first health issues, was benched for career-worst play and argued with his coach before tossing a towel at him.
