Woj tweeted on Monday that NBA sources are saying the Suns have hired former Milwaukee Bucks interim head coach Joe Prunty as the lead assistant on Igor Kokoskov’s staff.
After Jason Kidd was canned 45 games into last season, Prunty was given the reins for the remainder of the campaign. He coached the Bucks to a 21-16 record in those 37 games and pushed the Celtics to seven games before making a first-round exit.
Prunty interviewed for the Bucks job. Milwaukee eventually settled for former Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer.
