Suns General Manager Ryan McDonough recalls a team that was 7-5 and among the NBA’s top 10 for offensive and defensive efficiency when deciding that any short-term roster reaction might not be what the team needs. Instead, the Suns made a rare NBA move, especially in-season, to fire two top assistant coaches while retaining the head coach.
The Suns fired top assistants Jerry Sichting and Mike Longabardi after the team lost for the 15th time in the past 20 games, leaving no assistant coaches from last season’s staff.
