The Phoenix Suns announced Monday they have fired general manager Ryan McDonough, a little more than a week before the start of the NBA season.
"Over the course of the season, we will explore both internal and external options as we look to restructure our basketball front office leadership," Suns managing partner Robert Sarver said in announcing the move.
James Jones and Trevor Bukstein will serve as interim general managers, Sarver said. One candidate to watch long-term, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, is Kevin McHale.
