The Suns will part ways with guard Austin Rivers after officially acquiring him from the Wizards on Monday, according to a league source.
Phoenix sent forward Trevor Ariza to Washington in exchange for Kelly Oubre Jr. and Rivers. The pair was expected to join the Suns at practice in Boston following Monday's game in New York.
Rivers, who was in the final year of his contract, will be bought out and will become a free agent after he clears waivers, sources say.
Rivers' buyout was first reported by ESPN.
