Short-handed Suns nearly pull off 22-point comeback against Hornets

CHARLOTTE – It was time for Davon Reed’s close-up, but before the camera was turned on, he needed to make sure the fried chicken and biscuits he was eating hadn’t tarnished his smile.

“Do my teeth look OK?” he said.

All around him, the Suns were laughing and exchanging jokes. They had just fallen to the Charlotte Hornets, 122-115, their fifth straight loss and 20th in the last 22 games, but the mood in the locker room was anything but miserable.

“That was a lot of fun,” Tyler Ulis said.
