Monty Williams acknowledges that Mikal Bridges has made more adjustments “than anybody on the team” this season.
“Playing two and three last year, and four, three and sometimes, two,” Williams said. “Guarding point guards in pick-and-rolls and that kind of thing. He’s been a guy that’s made a major adjustment and it’s helped our team.”
Williams has recently called the versatile wing a “flexible four,” meaning he can play power forward against teams that want to go small coming off the bench.
Not a role Bridges envisioned, but one that has increased his value because he can play the four off the bench when Williams takes Deandre Ayton or Aron Baynes out of the game.
