The biggest lesson from Ryan McDonough’s firing has little to do with McDonough’s time with the Phoenix Suns and a lot to do with owner Robert Sarver. Because as it turns out, Sarver is a major control freak resembling Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, craving success while being the biggest reason he can’t find it.
Numerous reports have surfaced about Sarver demanding coaches make lineup and strategy changes. It’s also been speculated that McDonough’s firing had to do with him not trading for a point guard, and Sarver himself has stated he wasn’t pleased with the rate of progress.
