The Phoenix Suns on Wednesday announced the release of point guard Isaiah Canaan.
Canaan started 15 of the 19 games he appeared in this season for the Suns.
On Tuesday, Canaan came off the bench and played 21 minutes in the Suns' 109-104 loss to the Indiana Pacers at home. He finished with five points, three assists and three rebounds.
For a team that has sought stability at the point guard position, the decision to release Canaan is a bit puzzling, however, Devin Booker has become the primary distributor for the Suns as of late. Booker has reached career-highs in assists (12) twice this season.
