The Suns continued their roster makeover on Monday, turning down the team option on veteran guard Leandro Barbosa.
The veteran guard had a $4 million contract for next season, but only $500,000 was guaranteed. Had Barbosa remained on the roster past Monday, his entire contract would have been guaranteed.
Barbosa, 34, just completed his 14th NBA season. In 67 games last season with the Suns, he averaged 6.3 points in 14.4 minutes off the bench. He shot 43.9 percent from the field and 35.7 from 3-point range.
Throughout his career, Barbosa – a fan favorite – has been known for speed.
