After surging to the NBA Finals during the 2020-21 season, the Phoenix Suns needed follow up with a notably active offseason to remain contenders going forward. Once trading with the Brooklyn Nets for Landry Shamet, they quickly established themselves as a team with a plan to stay heavily involved during this year’s break between seasons.
A few days later, the Suns continued their spending spree by bringing back point guards Chris Paul and Cameron Payne under long-term contracts. Most expected Paul to come back, but Payne re-signing came as incredibly pleasant surprise.
