LAS VEGAS – The sheer concentration of all things NBA in Sin City is staggering.
In a gym the size of a large ballroom, Jerry West sat courtside Wednesday watching his latest prospect, Clippers guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, rip past a roster of aspiring Wizards.
Nearby in Cox Pavilion, Sam Cassell, an NBA champion-turned Clippers assistant, watched as his son, Sam Cassell Jr., came off the bench for Washington and scored five points in less than four minutes.
Any of it would have been a story if it hadn’t all been so typical here.
Welcome to summer league in Las Vegas, where Mike D’Antoni, Jeff Hornacek and Jeremy Lin glad-hand before one game.
