Robert Sarver stood near a basketball court in downtown Phoenix on Wednesday as dozens of kids in black Suns T-shirts ran around dribbling purple and orange balls.
Youngsters were heaving shots at a hoop by a chain-link fence decorated with a new banner featuring the images of Steve Nash, Connie Hawkins, Dan Majerle, Charles Barkley and Devin Booker.
For Sarver, the Phoenix Suns owner, the chaos represented the upcoming season: There’s going to be a heavy emphasis on the past and the future.
“We’re still a young team,” Sarver said. “But I think this year is going to be a period of growth and evolving.
