The Suns were unhappy with Markieff Morris’ behavior last season. Morris was displeased by the Suns’ actions this summer. The Suns were further disappointed by Morris’ reactions since then. And, now, the NBA disapproves of Morris’ conduct too.
The NBA issued Morris a $10,000 fine Tuesday for “a public statement detrimental to the NBA." The league announcement specified that the fine was addressing “Morris’ desire to be traded by the Suns.” Professional athletes often issue trade demands privately to a team’s front office or through an agent but Morris' public statements prompted the fine.
Since the Suns traded Morris’ twin, Marcus, on July 2, Markieff has publicly expressed his displeasure.
