Monday night was supposed to be the long-awaited block party outside Phoenix Suns Arena, a celebration some 28 years in the making after the last time the Suns made it to the NBA Finals.
The fans were definitely in the mood to dance the night away after the Clippers — without star Kawhi Leonard and productive 7-foot center Ivica Zubac — were going to be outmanned and ultimately succumb to the Suns.
Phoenix was ready for its beloved team to take the next step toward a championship. But the Clippers delayed that for at least another couple of days, stunning the Suns and a full house with a 116-102 Game 5 win.
