Coveted free agent LaMarcus Aldridge agreed to a deal with the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, ending the Suns' chase for the All-Star forward. Terms of the deal are not yet announced.
Aldridge announced his decision on Twitter.
The Suns made a heavy push to land Aldridge, trading Marcus Morris, Reggie Bullock and Danny Granger to the Pistons in an effort to clear sufficient cap space. They also planned to unveil an Aldridge banner at US Airways Center to show Aldridge how much they wanted him to sign with Phoenix.
With Aldridge joining the rival Spurs, the Suns will look to build around newly acquired center Tyson Chandler and re-signed point guard Brandon Knight.
