Following a shocking road win (13.5-point underdogs) over the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday, the Phoenix Mercury are off to a 2-1 start, and guard Kahleah Copper is likely the biggest reason why.
In the two wins — the first coming one game earlier against the Atlanta Dream — Copper became the first Mercury player to score at least 35 points in back-to-back games, the first game being a career-high 38 points before 37 in a Las Vegas encore and revenge opportunity after the Aces beat the Mercury in the season opener.
With the 2-1 start, the Mercury are off to a much better start than last season, when it took seven games for Phoenix to pick up its second win.
