Jay Triano is no longer in the running to be the Suns' head coach, league sources confirmed.
Triano served as interim head coach this past season, taking over three games in after Earl Watson was fired. Prior to that, he was the Suns' associate head coach.
The Suns finished 21-61 this season.
At least four other candidates spoke with the Suns last week. Former Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford and San Antonio Spurs assistant coach James Borrego were both in Phoenix for interviews. A league source confirmed Phoenix talked to Toronto Raptors assistant Nick Nurse and New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach Chris Finch as well.
