Deandre Ayton's suspension is a punch in the Phoenix Suns' mouth

If the Suns possessed any residual giddiness from their victory in the season opener Wednesday night, it disappeared Thursday evening with the announcement center Deandre Ayton has been suspended 25 games after testing positive for a diuretic.

The NBPA is preparing to ask the penalty be reduced or suspended based on an assertion that whatever Ayton took was unintentionally digested, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

More news will come in the next few days, so it's premature to render judgment on what Ayton did or did not do.
