If you had to narrow your criticism of the Phoenix Suns over the last couple of years down to one main gripe, it’d be that this team has been overloaded with too many point guards. After general manager Ryan McDonough’s gamble on Isaiah Thomas led to three disgruntled point guards and a roster shakeup at the trade deadline, Suns fans were longingly remembering the days when Ish Smith was the team’s backup point guard.
But as NBA fringe players continue to fight for attention in the Las Vegas NBA Summer League, it’s hard to ignore that two of the three main players who have stood out in that category are point guards.
