Starting Friday, the league will jump in the middle of a political firestorm. It will begin airing 30-second public service announcements calling for an end to gun violence. It’s the first step in a collaboration between the NBA and Everytown for Gun Safety, an advocacy group that is battling the Washington gun lobby and “leaders who refuse to take common-sense steps that will save lives.
