What beach could be safer than one manned by a seven-foot, 260-pound lifeguard?
Alex Len hasn't switched job careers, but his size, strength and swimming prowess all played a part in saving a friend from drowning. AZCentral.com reports that the Suns center was vacationing in the Domincan Republic with three friends when one of them was pulled from the beach into deep water by a riptide.
Upon hearing Jay Johnson's cry for help, Len immediately ran, then swam to his aid.
“By the time I got to him, he was halfway passed out,” Len said.
