In this early part of his rookie season, Luka Doncic has made several game winning shots. He’s made acrobatic highlight plays worth numerous replays on every social and broadcast media platform known to man. His team is also winning (more than they were last season), and while not yet a playoff competitor, they are still hovering around .500 on the season.
However, for all of Luka’s early season bluster – which is admittedly deserved – Deandre Ayton has consistently trudged along, slowly building his NBA legs; slowly becoming more and more acclimated to the NBA style of play; slowly finding a bit of a groove on both the offensive and defensive ends; and consistently averaging a double-double (which if he maintains, will make him the first rookie in franchise history to do so).
