The Phoenix Suns have a ton of decisions to make in free agency this offseason, but these are three guys who shouldn't factor into the front office's plans while drawing up a July wishlist. Here's our list of 3 Free Agents The Phoenix Suns Should Avoid This Offseason.
PF Paul Millsap
We're on board with Millsap as a prototypical stretch four who can fill it from the painted area on out to the perimeter, but the problem here for the Suns is both the fit and the money he'll conmand. The Suns already have a cheaper, younger option in Markieff Morris at the four. While Millsap is a better all-around threat by a healthy margin, he's just not the right financial/rotation piece compared to the Suns' needs right now.
SG/SF KJ McDaniels
McDaniels thrived on the barren Philadelphia 76ers, getting plenty of opportunities to score with the offense circuiting through him on many an occasion. However, he's a depth bench piece on a contender (see: his role in Houston). He's a sneaky man-to-man defensive standout who is still learning his role when shifted into a zone, but he's likely going to be overpaid for a role he's not quite fit for at 22 years old. Oh yeah, and his mother is a pretty vociferous Twitter critic. So there's that.
SG/SF Danny Green
We went back and forth on this one because Green is a heck of a piece to have as he's comfortable backing up the one through the three and he's good at it. However, although Gerald Green could walk after next season and there's going to be a lot of pressure on young Archie Goodwin behind Eric Bledsoe at the point, Green is going to command a premium on the open market. His defense and perimeter shooting makes him worth it, but not for a Suns team who already has solid depth at his highlighted positions.
