Local amateur team West Chester United is in Baltimore to face FC Baltimore Christos in the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
West Chester qualified last month in the fourth round of local qualifying after missing out on getting into the tournament through the National Amateur Cup (they lost in the final) and through the National Premier Soccer League. It’s the second appearance in club history and their first appearance since 2016. They advanced to the second round on penalties against FC Fredericksburg before losing to Harrisburg City Islanders at home.
Their reward for a win tonight will be another road trip to Birmingham, Alabama to face USL Championship newcomers Birmingham Legion.
